I just had to write a little post this evening and give a big shout out to all the incredible youth at our church, C3, in Asheville, NC.  My husband and I have been helping out and working with the youth ministry at our church for about nine months now, and I have to admit, I’ve fallen in love with these kids. We’ve gone on retreats, shared rooms and meals, played games, laughed, and worshiped God together. We are essentially watching these young men and women grow up right in front of us. They are becoming more confident in who they are (and whose they are), they are taking on new challenges and responsibilities, and it’s wonderful to see and be a part of who they are becoming.

  This weekend was big youth event, and today at church, several of the youth came up and shared what they enjoyed most about the weekend. Our youth band also performed a song for the congregation, and I have to say, I was so proud of all of them! You guys rock!

   I was told, way before I became an actual mother, that I would “mother” many. I definitely do not always feel like I excel in this area, but I do know that I love deeply, and that I am quick and willing to fight for those I love. I have been told by some of our girls that I remind them of a “Disney mom.” Now, I am still not exactly sure what that means, but they tell me it’s a good thing. (smile)

  If any of our teens are reading this right now, they might just be a little weirded out, but I just want you guys to know that we really care about you, and that we are committed to seeing you become all that God’s called you to be. You guys are amazing, and we are more proud of you than you’ll ever know.
