This has been a busy week! Not just normal busy, but crazy busy! I’m not sure why, exactly, but I am kind of hoping that it doesn’t repeat itself next week. It was our second week of homeschooling, and the girls and I are adjusting really well. They are learning the Pledge of Allegiance, working on colors and shapes, writing their letters, and of course, loving the “good job” stickers! We try to have a fun craft every day as well, and I thought that I might share a couple with you guys in case anyone is in need of a few ideas.

“Knitty Gritty”

This activity was a HUGE hit! The girls played with this for probably an hour or so, and kept wanting to go back to it days later. It is so easy, and not messy, which is a big plus for me. All you need is 40-grit sandpaper and some yarn. Any color. That’s it! Cut the yarn into varying lengths, and then let the little ones use those pieces to “draw” whatever they can imagine. We found the idea in our Disney Family Fun Magazine. You can also check it out here.

“Box House”

Ok, so this is not a new idea, but it is always a winner. We got a big box in the mail, and the girls and I went to town “decorating” and making doors and windows (and beds for their menta-montis and cockroach.) (menta-montis = praying mantis) The house also doubled as a cool place to sit and watch “Little People” as well.

Next week, we plan to make Kool-Aid playdough, and decorate foam picture frames. Don’t be too jealous.

I’m so thrilled that I get to teach our girls at home this year. This is definitely something that my hubby and I have discussed quite a bit, and we are so pleased at how well the girls (and I) have done. (I’ll update you in a few months.)
